Roman Kemp: But now let’s say hello to Kasabian frontman, Serge. Serge, good to see you, mate.
Serge Pizzorno: Thank you for having me.
RK: It’s been 10 years since you headlined Glastonbury.
SP: That’s right, yeah.
RK: I mean, I have heard though, rumors potentially of a return out there?
SP: Er… he wellies were always packed, right?
Alex Jones: Yeah, good.
SP: They’re by the door waiting to go. So you never know.
RK: So those rumours, that’s serious, okay.
AJ: What are your memories then of playing, you know, like a decade ago?
SP:  Glastonbury?
AJ: Yeah.
SP: I have no recollection.
Audience laughing
RK: That’s the correct answer.
AJ: Amazing! That’s the best answer.
SP:  I mean, come on. It was like, yeah. I don’t, I just, the levels we reached that night were just insane.
AJ: Yeah.
SP: And it was so good, such an honour… ’cause we were first, like 10 years before we went first on, and it took us like 10 years to go from first on to the middle, then, you know, support, and then we got to do the main gig, you know? It was amazing.
AJ: So you’ve got a new album out a week today. You’ve had six number one albums already.
SP: Yeah.
AJ: Is this lucky number seven, we reckon?
SP: I hope so, you never know. Who knows, who knows? Just hope no one dies. That’s always the worst thing. Someone can die, and then you’re just finished.
AJ: Well, that’s very dark.
RK: That’s very dark.
AJ: I think it will be alright.
RK: And it’s a Friday show. So I’m gonna change it with a nicer one. So the album Happenings, how’s the reaction been so far?
SP: It’s been unbelievable. We played in Denmark, and not been there much, but it went off for the new songs… and Italy at the weekend was absolutely, like, just pure romance. The vibes were massive.
RK: I love it.
SP: And the new tunes just went down like so well.
RK: Oh, fantastic. Well, look, you’ve got some great gigs. One I’m sure you’re looking forward to – Leicester.
SP: Yes, Leicester.
RK: That is gonna be a huge party. Kind of describe to me what you think that’s gonna be like.
SP: I mean, just like, ’cause we’ve won the league… Like we won the championship.
RK: Oh, right.
laughing
RK: Go on, mention it again. Go on, go on.
SP: Just saying, lads. So we’ve got that already, you know, that’s in the bag. So everyone’s just like, it’s just an excuse to celebrate like the city and the music, and the line-ups are amazing. So yeah, yeah, it’s gonna be great.
AJ: Yeah:
RK: Yeah, 100%. And in terms of the crowd, you just know that crowd is gonna be incredible, right?
SP: Yeah, yeah, from the kick off, like. I mean, the great thing is, last time we did it, like they continued to sing through the night. So it’s like, at the town centre. It’s like, if England won the World Cup, that’s what it was like. In the town centre, people were jumping in the fountains, they were, you know what I mean, it was 4 a.m., everyone in the city just going wild.
AJ: Can’t beat the jumping to the fountains, can you?
RK: Good luck to the people of Lester.
RK: So we’ll let you go and get ready for your performance.
AJ: Thank you so much.
SP: Thank you.
RK: Best of luck.
