HAVE AN EMPIRE XMAS

Dear NME readers,

Hope you’re having a good year. 2006 has been the stuff of boyhood dreams for Kasabian. Number One albums, meeting amazing people – we recently did a TV show with Smokey Robinson and after we’d played ‘Empire’ his manager came over and said, “Smokey loved that tune, have you got an album? He wants it!” Fucking Smokey Robinson!

Plus we’ve done Abbey Road and played with an orchestra. It’s been amazing man, we fucking love what we’re doing! However, l am looking forward to a good rest this Christmas. I’ll be at home with my family this year. We’ve got a few days off, so it will be time spent well. I’m an uncle, so I’m going to be doing all that business: a nice roast, a log fire, Christmas fucking hat, crackers, football on Boxing Day, the lot – and that’s it for me for this year.

I suggest saving it all up for New Year’s Eve. It’s going to get pretty damn big – that’s the one. It will be my 100th New Year’s Eve this year, because being in a rock’n’roll band, it’s New Year’s Eve every night! So we’ll just cap it off nicely with the 100th one, say no more. My Christmas message to you is simply this: just get really big over Christmas! That’s it.

Have a good one,

Serge Pizzorno
