Tom Meighan: We got a single coming out in August, L.S.F. We just shot a video with WIZ the other week. It’s funny as, man, really, it was a right good laugh.
Serge Pizzorno: You realise you ain’t got such a bad job when you’re in a prison with 40 women, playing in front of them.
TM: Yeah, these were nice women, they weren’t grippers, you know what I mean? There weren’t many grippers in there, not many butch lesbians, you know what I mean? There was a lot of fine ladies, mate, so…
SP: Yeah, it doesn’t get better than that really, does it?
TM: No, man.
SP: We’re off to Japan in August…
TM: Yeah, Japan, yeah, yeah, we’re doing Summer Sonic. That’s gonna be quite a strange culture shock. Very big, culture shock… We supported The Who, which was amazing. Yeah, that was fantastic. Overwhelming and flattering again, you know? Talking to Pete Townsend and Roger Daltrey was like… You know, it’s spot-on, man, fantastic.
SP: The album’s been finished for six months now, mastered, so… We’re looking forward to getting that out on the shelves because… when people see us play at these things, they’ve only heard one song. There’s just not a lot of good stuff out there. When something good comes along, people are diving on them.
TM: There’s a lot more British bands, which is good, like, you know, there’s a load coming through the crop now, which has been missing for a long time.
SP: And all the big bands are getting on a bit now, you know? Oasis are getting on and obviously Morrissey is old, you know, obviously he’s not just getting on… Well, he’s not far off it, is he? They want the next bands now to kind of kick them… put them in the grandpa’s jacket, you know, get their slippers on. Let the young lads sort it out.
