LYRICS
Cotton mouth is bleeding
One way glass deceiving
Dope me up on women and credit cards
Promised X-Ray vision and fancy cars
The tables set for the bourgeoisie
Better get in line with your dinner tray
‘Cause When it’s all ran out and it’s just you left
With the nut job swigging his crystal meth
And there’s a constant ring of machinery
Is there a place for me in history?
Sending the boys away
Leaving them out to play
Throwing them miles away
Now it’s another day
To shelter from the storm
Sending the boys away
Leaving them out to play
Throwing them miles away
Wishing for new years day
To shelter from the storm
Sons of time are rising
Sixteen minds exploding
It’s the 21st century, ain’t it cool?
It’s taught us how to eat and how to drool
And the wind up merchants are out in force
Telling you, my brother, to change your course
And you won’t be the first to think it’s wrong
When all you really want is to bang a gong
‘Cause it’s all sawn up in our misery
Is there a place for me in the history?
Sending the boys away
Leaving them out to play
Throwing them miles away
Now it’s another day
To shelter from the storm
Sending the boys away
Leaving them out to play
Throwing them miles away
Wishing for new years day
To shelter from the storm
We got to break down the walls
And shelter from the storm
We got to break down the walls
And shelter from the storm
We got to break down the walls
And shelter from the storm
We got to break down the walls
And shelter from the storm
Sending the boys away
Leaving them out to play
Throwing them miles away
Now it’s another day
To shelter from the storm
Sending the boys away
Leaving them out to play
Throwing them miles away
Wishing for new years day
To shelter from the storm
Info:
Acid Turkish Bath (Shelter From The Storm) was released as the sixth track on Kasabian’s fourth album, Velociraptor!, and features Serge on lead vocals.
The track was first performed live at Victoria Theatre in Halifax on 23 March 2017, and was only performed one more time – The following night at London’s Royal Albert Hall.
In a track-by-track rundown of the album, Serge explained that the title had little to no meaning, stating “The title comes from working quickly […] and you just write the first thing that comes to your head […] It’s just a funny title.”
In an interview with John Kennedy on XFM, Tom described the track as Kasabian’s “Most intelligent track”
Quotes:
“It kind of reminds me of Can, with a Radiohead kind of fucking drumbeat behind it, feel to it.. With the aspects of the way they do their music. It’s more of an intelligent Take Aim” – Tom Meighan, 2011
